Here we go again with the citrus. What can I say, there’s a lot of it in the house. And who’s going to say no to a fresh-squeezed orange gin fizz? Certainly not me.
There are two ways you can make this recipe. You can go for the original – a little more sophisticated, less sweet – or you can lady it up like me and add a little extra orange juice. Personally, the stuff is fresh… the more the better. Also, I like the taste of orange juice more than I like the taste of club soda… I can’t be the only one.
Orange Gin Fizz
Recipe adapted from Epicurious
3 ounces gin
1 egg white
1/2 cup orange juice (1/4 cup if you’re going with the original)
Dash grenadine
3 or 4 large ice cubes (enough to make it really cold)
Club soda
Combine all ingredients except the soda in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. And by vigorously, I mean a lot… shake it for a full 3 minutes.
Strain into a highball glass and fill with soda (or split into two old fashioned glasses like us).
