Love // Indie Wed + A Giveaway

indie wed geometric shoot / a thousand threads
Indie Wed is coming to Chicago in just a couple short weeks, and I’m so excited to have two sets of tickets to give away!

If you haven’t already heard, Indie Wed is meant to be the innovative answer to the traditional bridal expo—for couples that have a different picture in mind for their big day. For some that may mean a bash that bucks tradition altogether, while others may simply want to incorporate a few unique details into their special day. Indie Wed events connect small, independent wedding vendors and local artisans with the couples that love them.

And the creative folks behind the show always put together the most gorgeous inspiration shoots, like this one based on geometric shapes, perfect to give you an idea of what they’re all about…

Here’s a little bit more about the shoot from its organizers…

We were inspired by pastel colors of spring juxtaposed with sharp geometric shapes. From the table scape, ceremony shot, lounge area and sweets table, we wanted to create a vibe that was sophisticated but had a touch of whimsy. Our lovely bride, Mary and groom, John are a real life married couple. (She is a rad DJ with her own biz full of other rad lady DJ’s.) The bride’s long dress is white with a hint of mint underneath. Her headpiece is from Oscar de la Renta and is the same one she wore at her actual wedding. The bridesmaids are also in white for a more modern look topped off with some easy diy tulle headpieces. All three ladies are wearing a mix of fun geometric jewelry. Our groom and groomsmen look great in their matching khaki summer suits, each with a handmade tie / bow-tie from a local company.

We wanted to feature a ton of easy to make decor ideas that could be adapted to other events and color palettes (these could make for fun DIY posts as well). We chose unexpected items like faceted terrariums to serve as containers for a candy buffet. Strips of ribbon and scraps of paper stitched together made for a bold backdrop. In our ceremony area, an arch of colored washi tape adorned the walls spilling out onto the floor. In our lounge area, colored window clings were cut into various shapes to give a soft glow to light coming in. Our table even highlighted giant paper gems floating above. What fun.
