Hopscotch 2013 With Lenovo

We had an amazing time in Raleigh, but the best part (you probably could’ve guessed) was the reason we were there.

When Lenovo asked if I might like to attend this year’s Hopscotch Music Festival I was in right away. With 3 days of music, covering everything from death metal to classic folk, this up and coming little festival is doing something you don’t really see on the east coast… and it’s doing it *really* well.

I’ve already talked about what a great town Raleigh is — so it’s no surprise that it was the perfect place to host something like this. Each night, the best bars in town, along with a few of Raleigh’s beautiful theaters and event spaces, each host around 3 or 4 bands, meaning you can schedule yourself to run from one to the next, or you can just sit back and relax in one place — drink in hand.

Mark and I did a little bit of both, and listened to some amazing music along the way (with Slavic Soul Party, Local Natives, Brett Harris, the Everymen, and Saints Apollo rounding out the top of my list… although there were a whole lot of bands I missed, no doubt I skipped over some good ones…).

We were also able to catch a couple of day parties (even more bands) since the official Hopscotch shows don’t get going until around 5 or 6, along with a killer kickoff party hosted by Lenovo, who I have to commend for helping to make this whole thing happen. It’s pretty cool to see such a big company getting so involved in its local community — especially to promote something as cool as Hopscotch. In addition to serving as the title sponsor, Lenovo set up charging stations all over town, making it possible to go all day (and night) without having to sacrifice your connection — I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty frickin’ essential in my life. So I appreciated the service.

We were snapping shots the whole time, so I have one more post, and it’s the one I’m most excited about. Hopscotch pulled out all the stops you’d expect from a festival – including the street style. I can’t wait to share!
