Brands that give back // Canada Goose

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the warmest jacket I’ve ever owned — and my new best friend.

You’ve all heard my grumbling… you know how much I hate winter. As soon as the air hits that point where it starts to fight back — burning your face just for stepping outside — that’s when I go into hibernation. You can’t drag me outside.

I’ve even been known to pass up perfectly good, fun Christmas activities because they might require me to stand in the cold for an extended period of time (how this happened, I’ll never know).

But my love for Canada Goose goes way beyond the fact that they may just be responsible for making me love winter again…

I have so much admiration for the brand. Not only have they chosen to keep 100 percent of their production in Canada, they also source from only the most responsible suppliers — which is far from guaranteed when you’re talking about down — setting the standard for quality and integrity in down coats.

And the fur you see? Yes it’s real, but for a reason. Fur is the best protection in the coldest climates. (Of course I’m not going to claim that applies to me, but these guys are built to take you way beyond the biting air of the Maryland suburbs.)

Canada Goose sources its fur only from certified Canadian trappers regulated by the provincial and territorial wildlife departments in Canada, and the sale of coyote fur helps to support the aboriginal communities of the Canadian north.

… so basically, if you’re gonna wear fur, this is the way to do it.

In addition to doing its part to raise the moral and ethical standards for down and fur use, Canada Goose has partnered with The Conservation Alliance to protect threatened lands in North America, and Polar Bears International to support the endangered population of polar bears across the globe.

There are few companies whose values and practices I identify with and support as strongly as Canada Goose, so if you haven’t heard of them before, I’m honored to be the one to introduce you.

If you’re as much of a wimp as me in the cold (or you live somewhere much colder) you might want to consider checking them out — the Trillium (on me) doesn’t even scratch the surface of what they have to offer in terms of warmth.

** As always, although I was gifted a jacket for these shots, “Brands that give back” is not a sponsored post. I reach out to only those brands I love most — I think that’s pretty obvious from my gushing.
