On our third day in France – we spent our first two days like this and this – we’d finally recovered from the go-go-go of Ireland enough to explore.
So we hopped a train and headed north, toward Monaco, without really having a plan. We’d spent the majority of our planning time on our road trip, wanting to make it the best it could be for the family. So we decided that this time, we’d just wander, and stop in whatever town struck our fancy along the way.
And I’m so glad we did…
Truth be told, Nice was a lot bigger than I expected. The beaches, buildings, and food were to die for… but I could’ve done without the hustle and bustle of quite so many people.
Getting away to some of the quieter towns along the Côte d’Azur – wandering through the alleyways of Villefranche-sur-Mer and walking along the beaches in Èze – felt like a vacation of its own.
We ended our ride back in the hustle and bustle, but this time in Monte Carlo, with luxury at every turn.
We walked up to the casino – gawking at the beautiful yachts and cars and feeling like we definitely were not dressed enough like Kardashians to be wandering around – and then retired back to the luxury of a good meal and a beautiful night’s sleep.
… and maybe a little more sorbet.
