The NotWedding Inspiration Shoot

How sad am I that I don’t live in Atlanta, Orlando, or San Diego?  Right now, very.  Because if I did, I would definitely be attending The NotWedding.

The NotWedding is not your average bridal show.  Instead, NotWedding vendors perform their services just as they would at a real wedding, and you — the “wedding guests” — get to enjoy a fabulous night of great food and dancing.  The goal is that you might walk away thinking, “That was the best wedding ever! I want mine to be like that one!”  And, of course, “I have to have _____ be a part of my wedding!”

The event began when budding photographer Callie Murray thought to herself, “What better way to help brides discover amazing wedding opportunities and showcase my friends’ talents than to throw the ultimate wedding?!”

Today Callie was sweet enough to share a few shots, along with Tiffany of Rustic White Photography, from their Atlanta inspiration shoot.  And after seeing these, I don’t know how you could miss the event!

Act quickly, though.  Atlanta happens tomorrow!  And Orlando and San Diego take place later this month.  You can buy your tickets here.

Desert Rose Inspiration Shoot

I’m going to be honest.  I may have squealed a little when I opened up this gorgeous submission from Gaby J Photography.  Roses, cactus… a pretty girl in a vintage dress.

Is it just nostalgia that makes me desperate to break out my grandmother’s desert rose?  I can see the table now.

Laundry Day Inspiration Shoot

With the weather turning cold, it’s all I can do not to think about the long winter ahead… so this sunny, sexy inspiration shoot is a welcome distraction. The shoot was a total DIY by Chelsea McGowan of McGowan Images and Meagan Bechtel of MegBDesign… right down to the flowers from the local grocery store.

And as if that weren’t enough, I am just plain in love with Chelsea’s answer to the question below…

Whenever we post things like this, I always get someone who asks, “Why?” The answer is, and will probably always be, because I want to. It’s nice to shoot for ourselves. It keeps us creatively limber, and it’s fun. As a bonus, it encourages our brides to think outside the box for their own sessions and wedding decor. I hope we’ll always remember to set aside time a few days a year to shoot sessions like this, just because we want to create something beautiful.

Me too!! Thanks, Chelsea, for sharing this gorgeous shoot!

Nerdy Chic Factory Shoot

I love the contrast of traditional beauty with those things that might be a little more worn… each element is beautiful in its own way, but when you put the two together… something magical happens.

Country Sugar Events and 3-Design Photography have managed to capture that contrast beautifully in this nerdy chic inspiration shoot set in an old factory… and along with an amazing team of vendors, they’ve styled the perfect bookish bride to complete the look.

Carnival Inspiration Shoot

The Great Frederick Fair just recently left town and I’m already in mourning… it’s a little known fact that I spent a week out of nearly every summer of my childhood at the Coos County Fair as a proud 4-H’er and later, a rodeo queen (oh ya… that’s right).  To this day, nothing quite spells summer like the fair.  Caramel apples, kettle corn, scones (or elephant ears, whatevs), and those spinning rides I still don’t know how I stood as a kid.  The thought makes me so nostalgic.  It’s easy to see how someone might want to draw on some of that same nostalgia for their wedding… or maybe even their engagement party?  There is so much fun to be had!

Thank you so much to Eventity Inc and Iliana Morton Photography for sharing this fun shoot!

Peaches and Cream Inspiration Shoot + Cupcakes/French Macarons >> Discuss

Yum!  I always love a good edible centerpiece, and this one looks particularly delicious… I’m loving this adorable and DIY-friendly inspiration shoot, submitted via Two Bright Lights

Maybe I’m a sucker for a french macaron.  Maybe it’s 2pm and I haven’t had lunch, I don’t know…

But I’m curious… what do you all think of the cupcake/french macaron trend?  At this point I’m putting them both on the same level.  Macarons haven’t made it to the mainstream like cupcakes, but when it comes to weddings… they’ve both had their fair share of exposure.  I love them both, but at this point, I’m not sure I could bring myself to do either, having seen them both so many times… I’m actively mourning mason jars and succulents for the same reason.

What do you think?  Is this silly?  Are you planning a mason jar/succulent/cupcake and french macaron wedding?  Do you hate me for pointing this out?  Let me know your thoughts!

… they do look delicious.
