Happy Friday!

Jonas Peterson

Oh thank goodness the weekend is almost here… it is much needed!  And since Mark has a brand new job, as of this Tuesday, that means he will be home with me!  No more Saturday and Sunday shifts for him.  He’s all mine.

Besides the amazing-ness that is having more time with my guy, here are a few things I’m loving…

There really is nothing better than a cream pie… except maybe an apple cider cream pie?

This might just be the best thing I’ve ever seen.

This sweet new tumblr I’ve been following for running inspiration.

plus this, ’cause I ❤ it and the women in it.

Help Ink – seriously awesome art and 40% of the proceeds go to charity – via Besotted Brand.

Aww this list makes my heart hurt — I wish I could live in Portland — but it’s super good.

A wedding hair contender.

This gorgeous wedding at Martha’s Vineyard… and that Jenny Packham dress.

More Design Please

Halloween weekend is almost here… meaning not just loads of spooky fun, but also fiancé’s birthday!  Like most holiday babies, the day of his birthday will almost certainly be consumed by other celebrations — not to mention the fact that this year it falls on a Monday — so we’ve planned a little celebratory dinner this weekend just the two of us.  I’m excited to celebrate with a nice bottle of wine, a yummy meal, and my favorite guy.

As for the rest of the weekend…

Right now the forecast is calling for five inches of snow or more all the way up in our rural little community, which my boss would point out is practically in PA (I commute a lot).  And, honestly, I’m not sure where I stand on the prospect of this super-early snow.  The little coastal girl in me who barely saw more than a dusting of snow can’t help a little excitement at the thought of the first flake… but then, the little coastal girl in me who barely saw temperatures below 40 is secretly in a panic over the cold winter ahead.

I’m torn.  In any case, I’m excited to curl up and watch it all come down with a big cup of warm cider and a new book… maybe a little Halloween candy.

Here are a few things I’m loving…

I am super-obsessed with this gorgeous little wedding (and everything by Bash, Please, for that matter).

This shop for the boys.

Pretty sure I need to have a Sip and See.

DIY fall envelopes and a gorgeous DIY chandelier that I have to try.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately.

I love love love this idea.

These letterpress cards from Satsuma Press… and the good reminder they hold.

This delicious looking Halloween cocktail.

If you have five minutes… watch this.

I probably shouldn’t admit it, but I identify with this a lot.

And because you might need a little pick-me-up after those last two links… this guy.

Happy Friday!

The Bowtie Life

Despite the fact that I am well on my way to my first official cold of the season… I am super excited to take a little trip down to Shenandoah this weekend.  There is just nothing like Skyline Drive when the leaves start to turn.  It might be a little early yet for full-on color — at least that’s where we are up north — but maybe (fingers crossed) that will mean a slightly less crowded park?

We will see!

Do you all have any special fall plans for this weekend?

If (like me) you’re already counting down to the end of the day, here are a few things to keep you busy…

Hands down… my favorite part of my day job.

Every single thing in the newly opened shop from Besotted Brand.

Okay, seriously, this is right up there on the list of funniest things I’ve ever read.

Borderline twee.”

I would really like to get into canning… I think I need this.

These gorgeous art deco-inspired invitations.

Caramel sauce favors at this super cute Oregon wedding.

This unreal amazing hard cider that is new to me.

If I had my way I would have at least 50 sets of china.

Happy Friday and a Long Sunny Weekend to Me!

Dreamy Whites

YES!  Finally, it’s not raining and it’s not freezing…

This is one of those times when I truly love the east coast.  I looove fall (almost as much as this guy).  The air goes crisp, the leaves start to change, I pull out my scarves — but just for fun, not because my face might die without one wrapped around it.

I have a long weekend coming up and I’m pretty sure a large chunk of it will be spent fall-izing my home with some decorative gourds — I may even throw some multi-colored leaves into the mix.

Besides fall, here are a few things I’m loving this week…

A donut themed wedding shower!  (Have I mentioned how much I love donuts?)

A visual guide to how your suit should fit.

This ah-mazing real wedding at the San Diego Children’s Museum (that dress OMG).

Autumn drinks — yes please!

100 women in red lipstick – a photo essay.

Gorgeous Eva Juliet art prints.

The unbelievably awesome idea of a Royal Tenenbaum themed photo booth — at this all-around cool real wedding.

Pendleton blankets — I’m obsessing.

This 2005 Stanford commencement speech, delivered by Steve Jobs.  Amazing advice from an amazing man.

The weekend is here, the weekend is here!  Or, well… it’s really really close.  We’re headed down to Virginia this weekend to roll around in the mud… yes, you heard me right… it’s a decidedly un-pretty occasion, but sometimes that’s just what a girl needs!

If you’d rather have pretty… just stare at that shot above until I get back.  And check out these links…

Can I please have a claw foot tub?

For the boys.

I love this bride’s boho style.

Warm vs. cold water… and focusing on wellness as the weather turns cold.

This DIY fruit and flower centerpiece and DIY twig wreath.

Beyond gorgeous watercolor wedding invitations.

This simple wedding makes me weak in the knees.

Ooh… metro maps.

Always looking for a yummy new gin… especially one that will look pretty on my bar.

It’s raining out there again!  What is this?  I mean, I know I’m from Oregon and all, and I’m supposed to like this stuff… but why does it have to keep showing up just in time for the weekend?

I’m ready for a little crisp fall sun… preferably on a Saturday and/or Sunday.  Can we arrange that?  Kthxbai.

In the mean time…

I neeeed to see these adorable babies at the zoo… maybe not this weekend, ’cause it’s raining… I’m not bitter.

These super sweet invites… I can’t even handle how cute they are.

This DIY wrapped hair comb… so pretty.

Estee Lauder’s new YouTube channel via The Brides Guide.

Love these DIY mixed gold nails.

Alexander Skarsgård by Chad Pitman.

Bacon cornbread what?  Oh… vegetarian… right.

Happy Friday

Photo by The McCartneys Photography via The Wedding Chicks

It’s Friday!  I can’t say I’m quite as excited as usual, since I’ve spent the last couple of days sick in bed.  It seems I may have caught a little stomach bug, but I’m waiting for the sun after the rain (which is always the best kind) both in the weather and my health!

In the mean time, here are a few things I’m loving…

This inspirational floral “wallpaper.

Did you know macarons are gluten-free?

Jones soda escort cards at Clayton and Melissa’s gorg wedding on Engaged & Inspired (not to mention E&I’s new look!  Congrats Allison!)

Super excited for the Borrowed event in Baltimore this April!

Secrets of the no-sew rag rug!

Baby’s breath poms.

Long Weekend Link Love

Kori Lynn Photography via Hi-Fi Weddings

Hope you enjoy your looong Labor Day weekend!  I know I plan to get in as much outside time as I can before the cold comes… hopefully the weather is cool with that.

Here are a few things I’m loving this week…

A chevron inspiration shoot from Simply Chic Events and Holland Photo Arts.

The new issue of Matchbook Magazine!

Neon and neutral might have to make an appearance in my wedding festivities.

This super pretty ‘apricot glow‘ Photoshop action.

A sneak peek at the fall issue of Martha Stewart Weddings — the fashion issue!

Can I have this little shack please?

A great idea for a bridal shower!  And a gorgeous party in itself.

Ombre, ombre, ombre.

{Budgets} Speaking of Budgets

How would you like to name your own price for wedding invitations?

That is exactly the point of a fascinating experiment happening this month at Up Up Creative

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ_X_dEIzRU]

(the song is “generator: second floor” by freelance whales — btw)

I’m so curious to hear about the results of this project (and maybe get in on it myself!).  What will happen when customers are asked to put their own price on old fashioned creativity and hard work?

Seriously… fascinating.
