A Cold Pumpkin Pie Cocktail from Lena

Cold Pumpkin Pie, Abe & Arthur’s
I’ve adored Laicie and her beautiful blog for quite some time, and I’m incredibly honored that while she’s off getting hitched (a sure-to-be-amazing event I’ve been looking forward to for months!), I’m spending a little time with her amazing readers. I wanted to raise a glass to the newlyweds with something special and autumnal–and when I saw one of my favorite breakfast foods (cold pumpkin pie) reinvented as a cocktail, I knew I’d found the perfect drink for toasting Laicie and Mark!

Cold Pumpkin Pie

2 oz vanilla vodka
2 bar spoons pumpkin puree
3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 oz orgeat syrup
shy 1/4 oz Allspice Dram

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice; shake for 10-15 seconds, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Notes: This gorgeous photo from Abe & Arthur’s Restaurant (where the Cold Pumpkin Pie was created) shows a whisper of cinnamon gracing the top of this cocktail–but if you’ve ever shook a little ground spice in your drink, you know it ends up clumping and making you cough. Instead, just a bit of Allspice Dram will give this libation cinnamon spice without marring your glass. Cheers to you, and to the newlyweds!
