Welcome to the Weekend!

Loads of good news and exciting things happening around these parts.

1) My dress is in!  I have an appointment to pick it up later this month… and I don’t know if you all have had similar experiences, but this whole waiting thing?  No fun at all.  I am literally dying to see it again.

2) As of yesterday, we are officially going to Peru on our honeymoon.  The details are still being ironed out, but the first part of the trip is officially booked!

3) BBQ plans are beginning to take shape… and I’m pretty sure these little beauties are going to make an appearance.

We have tons of fun plans for this fathers day weekend… including Austin’s first non-kid concert ever.  So here’s hoping he digs Dave Matthews!  Dave’s no Billy Jonas, after all.

Anybody out there braving big concerts with your little one (he’s six)?  I remember (and still regret) that my parents tried to take me to see the Ramones when I was around that age and I refused… all because they wanted me to wear protective headphones!  Such a mistake.

Here are a few things I’m loving this week…

Our Labor of Love’s baby shower!

Hostess gifts that people will love.

Making butter.

West coast love.

You just can’t go wrong with ice cream pie.

How to access font variants.

This guy.

Is it shortcake? Is it a scone? Honestly… I’m not sure I care, it looks delicious.

A cheat sheet for manual photography.

More ice cream, but seriously, it’s summer… and this is a fantastic idea.

Currently Obsessing Over

This napkin set, featuring correspondence written by the likes of Mark Twain and Emily Dickinson, would be the perfect addition to any registry.

Or maybe even an idea for a fun wedding day DIY?

Our Caterer: O Street Food Truck

Speaking of all of those things we’ve checked off the list, this has to be one of the most exciting. You might remember that about halfway through planning we decided to scrap our plans for a super expensive caterer and hire a food truck.

The decision was part of a series of changes that I have not regretted for a single second. If anything, I think they’ve made our wedding a whole lot more fun.

Hello Summer!

Mark and I are packing up for a quick weekend trip, off to celebrate with friends.  My goodness I’m beginning to forget what my little house looks like, but I have a feeling June will be much more slow… lots of time under umbrellas at the pool.

It’s been so long since I’ve shared my favorites…

Was there ever any more perfect book of cocktail recipes?

Somehow, I missed this movement… darn vacations.  But it’s kind of amazing.

This etsy shop.

25 (awesome) words that don’t exist in the English language.

Making your blog bloom.

Not that I’m anywhere near this place, but here’s some super good advice on when to quit your job (for freelance or another job, not just ’cause your boss is mean).

This is truly adorable.

Make your own camper!  Seriously, though, I’ve always wanted a teardrop.

Friday We’re in Love!

And busy putting the final touches on all of our wedding planning details!

This week I’m loving the California sun.

See you all again soon!  I’ll be back in the saddle on Tuesday, though I’m going to take a wild guess and say I might be a teensy bit tired.

Happy Friday!

I’ve been thinking a lot about taking risks, lately.  The risks I’ve taken in the past, and those I plan to take in the future.  The truth is, I’ve always played things pretty safe… but often I find I’m a lot happier when I’m forced to throw it all out the window and be true to myself.

So… I’m brainstorming.  In love, I couldn’t be happier.  But in life… well, I have a lot of dreams.  And a few fears.  But mostly, a whole lot of hope that eventually I will totally find my way into the happiest, most fulfilling and life-balancing awesome career… and all will be right with the world.

(ya… I know)

Honestly, though, that end could take any number of forms.  And as of yet I’m having a pretty hard time focusing on just one plan.  But the reality is that eventually, in order to find success, I might have to focus a little.  And that — to me — is one of the biggest risks of all.

I want to do “something great” (this might be a generational problem, but nvm).  And… if I start taking a few more risks… maybe I’ll have a real chance.

But all cryptic introspection aside… I’m pretty excited for this weekend and the week to come.  After what promises to be a crazy busy weekend, we’re headed to California to squeeze any and all of our wedding prep into one little week.  So wish us loads of luck!  We’re pretty excited.

And be sure to check back.  I’ll be scheduling some lovely posts while we’re away.

Here are a few things I’m loving this week…

These adorable mom tatts.

I so have to hit the cupcake ATM while we’re in LA.

I cant help it, I am so in love with succulents.

This super cute second birthday!

These absolutely gorgeous shoes.
