{Wedding Film Wednesday}

Today’s film from Bliss Productions is THE BEST.

I don’t even know where to start.  From “Queen Kong + Separate Agenda Guy” to “By the power of Grayskull” (which Mark sweetly informed me is from He-Man) … it is so much fun, so personal, so perfect.

If, like me, you’re obsessed with all things Martha, you might already recognize this unbelievably gorgeous affair (and know just how perfectly executed it was).

Laura and Justin’s ceremony took place in a redwood grove, with a grand piano playing in the background.  Their invitations were inspired by Laura’s favorite novel, “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close,” by Jonathan Safran Foer, and began with the phrase, “We would be extremely honored and incredibly psyched …”  Each intricate detail (the invites match the textiles!) was designed with the help Alison Events and the brilliant Jenny Pennywood.

The day was packed with inspiring details.  If you haven’t already, you have to take a look.

{Wedding Film Wednesday}

Today’s wedding film is really special, because it was shot entirely by a friend of the bride and groom… and not a friend who also happens to be a professional videographer. A friend with nothing more than an iPhone and some seriously awesome editing skills.

Brooke, who was also a bridesmaid, was there for every second of the wedding action from the leadup to the day of, so she was able to capture moments that a regular videographer could only dream of.

The result? Amazing. To say the least…

The film was originally posted on Grey Likes Weddings… and it has stayed with me since. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

The song in the video is “Same Heart” by The Bonfires.

Happy Halloween!

… and happy birthday to my favorite guy!! (he was the little orange one on the left)

I love you more than I can say.

You are my ally, my accomplice, my mentor, and my best friend.  You keep my feet on the ground… and you never let my dreams fall down to meet them.  You know when to listen, and when maybe it’s better to ignore.  You know when I need a hug — or a big bowl of ice cream — and you never stop making me smile.  You never stop challenging me.  And you never stop making me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

We were written in the stars, you.

Happy birthday Halloween baby!

The Cana Family

A recent meeting with our awesome videographers has me even more excited about the idea of our wedding film… so excited that I started to wonder why wedding films don’t get more attention on the blogs? They usually show up somewhere near the end of a post… so late in the game that sometimes I don’t even watch… have you noticed the same?

The thing is that the ones I do watch are often so amazing, and so inspiring, that they stay with me much longer than anything else. A good wedding film can really tell the story of the couple and their day the way nothing else can.

So I thought I’d start a new feature here on the blog… one dedicated solely to the best of those films… the ones that really show the best of what a wedding film can be.

And who better to start Wedding Film Wednesday off than the amazing team I chose for my own wedding, The Cana Family.

Ben and Drew are not just super talented, they’re also super cool… and the weddings they shoot are the same.

This one, though, really takes things to a new level. Lauren and Trey had a destination wedding like no other in Capri, Italy. I’m not sure words can even explain the beauty of this place and the perfection of this wedding… if you’re going to elope, there is no question that this is the way to do it… as long as you take Ben and Drew along to capture every second this perfectly.

Seriously, just watch…

And by the way, if you’re wondering about that awesome score?  Drew composes each one himself…

I know.

Welcome to Wedding Film Wednesdays!

A Little More Carnival-Themed Inspiration

I thought I’d run with the earlier inspiration shoot and share a few more carnival-themed bits from around the web… there are so many great ideas out there for gorgeous carnival-themed events! I blame Reese Witherspoon for looking so unbelievably fabulous in all those promo shots for Water for Elephants. Granted, that was the circus… but (at least in my mind) there’s a lot of overlap there.

… I may have also just (finally) seen the movie.

Pick Your Own

The weather over Labor Day weekend wasn’t the best, but there was this one day… so Mark and I decided to seize it as best we could.

We visited a local winery, Black Ankle Vineyards (they do weddings in case you’re looking!) and a pick your own wildflower field… and Mark is playing with a new camera, so I got to play model!

Bridal Boudoir by TEAM Hair and Makeup/Lacie Hansen + To Boudoir or Not to Boudoir?

Wow this is a gorgeous boudoir session. The forest, the light… her awesome hair!

Seriously, can someone tell me why I wasn’t born with curly hair?

(grass is always greener *sob sob*)

The jury is still out on me + bridal boudoir… I love the idea, and I know Mark would too, I’m just not sure my confidence level is up to the super high heights it might need to be to lounge around in next to nothing and know the results would be… palatable.

I know I’m being silly, but do other brides out there have the same hangups? If not, are you planning to do bridal boudoir/if you’re not getting married, would you consider regular boudoir shots as a special gift for your guy? Particularly if they were as classy and gorgeous as this shoot?

For me, one thing is certain… if I do decide to do bridal boudoir, this session by TEAM Hair and Makeup and photographer Lacie Hansen (another Laicie!) will definitely be my inspiration.
