{Real Weddings} Nelson & Michelle’s New York Nuptials

Nelson and Michelle chose to split their wedding into two days.  The first, a Korean tea ceremony, and the second, a traditional New York celebration.  The wedding took place at Battery Gardens, surrounded by beautiful blooms, a gorgeous green and white palette, and one of the cutest cakes I’ve ever seen.

A Long Weekend

Okay, so… our weekend didn’t go exactly according to plan.  In Mark’s words, it was great until he hit the ground.

But he could have been hurt a lot worse.  So I’m happy that in the end, he only broke his collar bone.

And the upside of it all is that this kind of pain gets you just about anything you ask for.  In Mark’s case, that meant strawberry shortcake.  I went for Paula’s recipe ’cause basically, Ms. Deen makes everything just that much more delicious by adding extra butter.  Then added this.

Between this, shrimp tacos, a little wine and some food network, we had a pretty low key Memorial Day, but I’m thankful for every second… because if there is anything that an accident makes you remember, it’s how fast everything can change… and how lucky we are.

Hello Summer!

Mark and I are packing up for a quick weekend trip, off to celebrate with friends.  My goodness I’m beginning to forget what my little house looks like, but I have a feeling June will be much more slow… lots of time under umbrellas at the pool.

It’s been so long since I’ve shared my favorites…

Was there ever any more perfect book of cocktail recipes?

Somehow, I missed this movement… darn vacations.  But it’s kind of amazing.

Not that I’m anywhere near this place, but here’s some super good advice on when to quit your job (for freelance or another job, not just ’cause your boss is mean).

This is truly adorable.

Make your own camper!  Seriously, though, I’ve always wanted a teardrop.

Inside Enjoy Cupcakes

I have been in love with Enjoy Cupcakes for some time now, so when it came time to book a baker for my wedding, I knew just who it would be.

Of course, all of that would make sense if I had already tried their cupcakes.  But… I hadn’t.

Instead, I booked Enjoy based purely on their fantastic reputation and their even more fantastic personalities.  It is impossible not to love Amber, Kevin, and their entire family from the first moment you speak.

(That adorable trailer may have also had a little bit of say in the matter.)

But oh my goodness… I had no idea what I was missing.  I am seriously not kidding when I say that Enjoy makes *the best* cupcakes I’ve ever had.  And I promise you I’m not saying that just because I’m biased.  Those of you coming to the wedding won’t be disappointed.

The Santa Ynez Valley

Pinch me.  This is where I’m going to get married.

This place could not be any more beautiful… and if the weather is not always perfect (which I suspect that it is) it was certainly perfect for us.

Currently Obsessing Over

This lovely little favor possibility, part of a 2010 cheese buffet spread by Sunday Suppers.  Wouldn’t these be the most gorgeous little gifts?

You know how I love edible favors.

Today We Fly

Just a quick hello from 35,000 feet.  We had a lovely trip and, honestly, I don’t know how I managed to get on a plane and leave.  The Santa Ynez Valley is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Friday We’re in Love!

And busy putting the final touches on all of our wedding planning details!

This week I’m loving the California sun.

See you all again soon!  I’ll be back in the saddle on Tuesday, though I’m going to take a wild guess and say I might be a teensy bit tired.
