{Real Weddings} Sondra & Jason’s Kentucky Classic

Sondra and Jason’s wedding — with its neutral palette, to-die-for location, and cutest kids ever — is one for the books.  The two were introduced three years ago by Jason’s sister and the rest, as they say, is history.

A Little Inspiration: Winter Warmth

Swing / Suitcase / Cakes / Turntable / Book / Coke / Bride / Reindeer / Table / Cabin / Tree

It’s been much too long since I posted an inspiration board, and since it doesn’t feel like winter here at all, I thought I’d try and create my own.

I love that despite the cold, this board still feels warm and cozy.  Right now I would like nothing more than to be curled up in that cabin, sipping hot cocoa and humming along to Christmas songs with my honey.  I can’t believe I’m saying it… but I’m kind of ready for some snow.

A Perfect Christmas Proposal

Lance and Kathryn have known each other since the fifth grade, so Lance had to be tricky to hide his plan from this girl who knows him so well.  He decided to talk her into a Christmas photo shoot (such a fun idea, even without the proposal) and, because she might suspect that something was up, wait until the very end to get down on one knee and propose.

The best part?  The whole thing was captured by the talented Melissa McCrotty who pulled of an unbelievably gorgeous Christmas shoot in the process.

{Real Weddings} Kelsey & Theron’s Hometown Heart

I love the holidays, but sometimes they can be hard.  I make it home to Oregon at least once a year, but I rarely make it for the holidays and I miss my beautiful coast.

This wedding, though…

This wedding is the perfect one to cheer me up.  I’m still in awe of the fact that, by total coincidence, it came across my desk… courtesy of the lovely Jamie Zanotti, who hails from my hometown!  I was so excited to see Jamie’s gorgeous pictures and reminisce about Coos Bay.  She is the sweetest, and Kelsey and Theron’s wedding could not be more perfect.  I just love the beautiful simplicity of the day… and that view of the North Bend bridge?  To die for.

Thank you so much for brightening my holidays, Jamie!  What an absolutely gorgeous celebration.

Here’s a little more about the day, straight from Jamie herself:

Kelsey hails from North Bend, Oregon but now lives on the East Coast.  She and Theron planned their wedding from afar, and it was to be a simple backyard affair… but Kelsey’s girlfriends wouldn’t hear of it.  They rallied together and created an elegant event.  When Kelsey’s plane came in, they took her down to the beach to collect sand and beach grass, which they paired with flowers from a gardener friend’s yard, and the results were gorgeous!  The original venue fell through, and family friends generously offered their property so the wedding would not have to be delayed.  Their home is nestled in the hills overlooking the historic North Bend Bridge (over Coos Bay), and matched with Kelsey’s girlfriends’ genius, the wedding was fabulous.

A Little Inspiration: Hi-Fi Hues

Table Setting / Throw / Concert Poster Invite / Bridal Inspiration / CD Programs / Flowers

Today’s inspiration board isn’t just filled with gorgeous bright hues, perfect for any season, it also contains some of the best musical inspiration I’ve seen.  A concert poster as an invite, a program that imitates a CD with “all you need is love” printed on the front and a mock playlist on the back.  Take that and mix it with a little vintage romance… the combination is sheer perfection.

{Real Weddings} Anita & Zachary’s Vintage Romance

There’s a time when a man needs to fight and a time when he needs to accept that his destiny’s lost, the ship has sailed and that only a fool will continue. The truth is I’ve always been a fool.”

Did you ever see Big Fish?

It’s one of my favorite movies ever, and particularly meaningful to Mark and I.

If you haven’t seen it, do it now.  I’m serious.  It might just change your life.

If you have, I promise I really do have a point… you know when Edward goes to Spectre (the first time?) and it’s so perfect.  The shoes are hung on the power line, everyone is all smiles, and the lights in the middle of the town just sparkle like crazy?  That is what Anita and Zachary’s wedding reminds me of.

A simpler, more beautiful time.

It stole my heart.

Here’s what their photographer had to say:

Anita and Zach had an outdoor wedding at the family pond, which has long been a location for family picnic’s and get-together’s. They managed to transform the pond from an everyday picnic location into a magical outdoor reception site, complete with candles hanging from willow trees and fireworks to finish off the night. While planning a wedding from out-of-state, Anita was sure to include special details that focused on their relationship as well as their families. Most of the details were either created by Anita herself, or by friends and family members, keeping the wedding as Do-It-Yourself as possible, while still being elegant and enchanting.

{Real Weddings} Amber & Jon’s Southern Classic

I just couldn’t pass up this gorgeous southern wedding held at Flint Hill, a beautifully restored 1835 mansion in Norcross, Georgia.  Not only is the location to die for… the wedding is as classic as they come.

{Real Weddings} Lindie & Nate’s Botanical Bash

With so many options out there, I know how hard it can sometimes be to come up with the perfect theme.  But occasionally, a couple can be so lucky that the theme comes to them.

This was definitely the case for Lindie and Nate, all they needed was the right venue…

From the start, we knew that we didn’t want the typical country club or hotel wedding.  One visit to the the Botanical Center was all we needed to decide that it was the unique setting that we had been in search of.  Before choosing a venue, we had a really hard time narrowing down a palette, graphics and other design elements for our wedding but the gardens provided direct inspiration for all of that and our wedding theme quickly grew…even the dress was chosen with the venue in mind.  With a background in art & design, I was heavily invested in adding handmade personal touches…table runners, basket liners and a ring pillow from linen and silk dupioni, and invitations and programs with custom graphics.  A lot of people didn’t understand why I was putting in so much time creating these items but to us it completely finished the look and added something totally special that spoke to who were are.  We decided a station style reception worked best for the format of the Botanical Center.  Colorful tapas plates were available throughout the gardens and we had a cupcake variety (banana nutella and chocolate peanut butter included – yum!) and strawberry shortcake instead of a typical cake.  Our day was absolutely amazing…our families are a wild bunch but it still felt very relaxed; the ceremony went off without a hitch; and we got to share some incredible, intimate moments with the people we are closest with.  We wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
